We made our first foray into freshwater boating by spending a week at Lake Powell. This lake, located on the Utah/Arizona border, is a boater's paradise with hundreds of canyons to explore and miles of shoreline to camp on.
We spent the entire time camping on the boat to see how we would do on an extended cruise. Our goal is to eventually trailer the boat back east for some river cruising through the heartland of America or up the ICW to explore the eastern seaboard. This trip would give us a good idea of life aboard a 24' boat and see if we liked it and what improvements would need to be made to facilitate such a trip.
We really enjoyed it and did not grow tired of it even after seven days. We were able to get into a rhythm- a very slow rhythm, and we liked it a lot.
Our Dachshund Wahoo enjoyed it too -especially when we loaded him up on the tube to take him ashore for a little excercise.
We had great weather conditions with the temps in the mid 80's -90's and the water temp 81 degrees.
While we will be back we have a lot of other places to go first including the Pacific Northwest....
